Dominika Tihanyi, born 1977 in Budapest (Hungary), studied landscape architecture at Szent István University. In 2000 she has co-founded with six fellow friends their office Újirány Group, which practise aims to reflect on new urban challenges drawn up by the ever changing world around us and to set up new directions and possibilities of development. As one of the members of Újirány group Dominika Tihanyi takes part in creating landscape design and public art works since 2000.

She also takes part in international workshops (Frankfurt, Leipzig), gives lectures and teaches courses at several universities in Hungary (BME - Budapest University of Technology and Economics, MOME - Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design) and also gives lectures abroad (Stockholm, Rapperswil, Kassel, RIBA, ICA – London).

She obtained her DLA at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, where she also teaches landscape architecture. Her research work deals with the social aspects of sustainability, focusing on the implementation of creative strategies and public art in the course of urban regeneration. The chain of public interventions to follow up this methodology was selected in the book Landscape Architecture Europe #4. Her international publication on the theme can be found on SPOOL Online Journal. She was also part of the jury of LAE#5.
